Ruth Jana Braunsteffer, MA
Ruth Jana Braunsteffer is a concert guitarist, music educator, and expert in inclusive music education. She studied instrumental pedagogy at the Mozarteum University Salzburg as well as at the Vorarlberg State Conservatory, and completed her master's degree in 2013 with unanimous distinction. In addition, she completed an additional qualification in music therapy at the Bavarian Music Academy Marktoberdorf. She received formative instruction from Petr Paulu, Walter Abt, Georg Gaupp-Berghausen, Augustin Wiedemann, Maria Isabel Siewers de Pazur, Pedro Zamora, Pavel Steidl, Odair, and Sergio Assad.
Her artistic work includes extensive international concert activity as a soloist, in ensembles, and as a soloist with orchestra throughout Europe, including with the Vienna Symphonics at the Bregenz Festival 2011/12 (André Chénier). She has performed in Germany, Austria, France, Spain, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Andorra, and Portugal (Madeira), including venues such as the Gasteig in Munich and the Solitar in Salzburg.
As a member of the guitar trio Tres Cordas, she performs regularly both in Austria and abroad. The ensemble has received multiple prizes at international competitions, including 1st prize at the International Music Competition Salzburg Grand Prize Virtuoso (2022), as well as further awards in international competitions. In 2021, the CD Danzas mágicas was released.
Alongside her concert career, Ruth Jana Braunsteffer is a dedicated music educator. Since 2011, she has taught guitar at the Musikschule Feldkirch, where she founded the guitar orchestra "Montfort-Gitarrinos," among other initiatives. Several of her students have achieved success at prima la musica. A particular focus of her work lies in inclusive music education and in teaching people with different learning prerequisites and disabilities.
Since 2021, she has served as state subject group leader for plucked instruments in the Vorarlberg Music School Association and as a member of the Vorarlberg prima la musica committee. Since 2023, she has also led the state subject group for inclusive music education. In addition, she regularly serves as a jury member at competitions and as a lecturer in continuing education for music educators.
Ruth Jana is a lecturer and organizer of the Vorarlberg Guitar Days as well as chairwoman of the association "Mehrsaitig," which is dedicated to promoting guitar music and music education in Vorarlberg.
