Inclusive Music Education

Inclusive music education ensures that all people - regardless of age, origin, language, culture, social status, religion, gender, or mental and physical disabilities - have the same opportunity for musical education and equal participation in lessons. It enables the acquisition of not only musical, but also communicative, social, and intercultural competencies. Each student is encouraged to develop their creative, artistic, and intellectual potential - not only for their own benefit, but also as an enrichment for society. (cf. UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Vienna 2016)

Teachers who teach inclusively perceive and appreciate the diversity and differences of their students, and adapt their individual or group lessons to the needs of each learner.
